Originally built in the 1920’s as a hotel, the design team revitalized the tired wedding banquet venue to be a lively community gathering space for the resident scholars of Saint Louis University. The design concept employs a modern urban vibe with eclectic mix of colors and materials. The renovation features modern 3form white resin charging station/ counters stretching from column to column as a central anchor in the room. Under countertop LED lighting showcases the black hexagonal tile under the counter. Chessboard style bar stools and clear acrylic wingback chairs add a playful note to the traditional décor. The piano adds music and an element of old world glamour. Engineered hardwood floor is added, walls and columns painted, and modern lighting added to add youthful energy to the space. The hand painted plaster ceiling was kept intact, ensuring that future generations may enjoy the fine craftsmanship of the past.
